G'day boys. Just finished my rostered 4 days off from Mon-Thurs. With some cracker tides all this week and trying to keep the fuel costs down I decided to just stick it out around the creeks and flats on the East side.
Mixing it up between Bleesers, Reichardts, Sadgroves flats and the Catalinas I armed myself with a variety of Squidgie fish.
The stand out colours were by far Drop Bear in the dirty water and natural coulours like Jelly Mint and Evil Minnow on the turn with the water clarity getting better.
The plan was to just attack the drains and flats 2hrs before the low and about an hr into the run in so i had enough water to get back home early.
Just short sharp sessions and home around 2pm.
Rigging the plastics on 1/4oz jigs enabled me to slow roll subsurface and get casts right up into the skinny water which I found seemed to hold alot of fish.
Simple cast and retrieve at a steady pace and you'd find a fish on nearly every drain willing to inhale your rubber.
Met Niko at the ramp...Nice to meet ya bro, did ya do any good?
Results were mixed with about 25 fish landed in the 4 days with a few being under size. My best sesh was a 7 fish morning sight casting the flats and dropping a few more. Always drop a few on the rubbers boys, thats just the game. Legal Fish ranged between 57cm - 72cm and are just about perfect eating size. Got a few fillets to take back to Brissie for the family as well.
In summary, the fish are about and so are the big ones by CB's report so get amongst em and enjoy it boys. I used about 40L of fuel for 4 days and managed a good bag so the harbour is still a cheap option. Good luck.
Richie
PS: Pics attached of the live well with some of the days catch's.
Queenies are for the dog to chow down on. Gee he eats better than me.

Awesome stuff Richie, it was good to meet you , I managed to catch nothing yesterday Just after you saw me up that little creek I thought it was best I get out of that creek. When I got near the mouth I realised I wasn't going to make it and ran aground again I jumped out and went past my knees in the mud. There was just enough water to push 20metres back into the channel. It took it out of me and was lucky I didn't have a five hour stay on the mud.
Once free I took off up Reicharts which I found pretty quite. I found some amusement watching some much skippers have a blue. Then a crabber decide to drop one of his pots in a drain in the area I was fishing which I thought was handy. On the low tide to my amusement a large sea eagle came down and landed on his now exposed pot. The eagle easily flipped over the pot and started tearing open the mesh pot trying to get to the bait.
My transom of the minnkota decided to let go after backing into a log a few trips ago. Even with the dramas it was still worth a look and was glad to see you in action Richie. I look for to catching you again out there NIKO
