A weird one

Post by Matt Flynn »

I netted this under a floodlight in a Kimberley bay. It had skin like a leatherjacket, an upturned mouth and a goatee on it's chin that pointed straight forward when it was in the water. It was thin like a blade and hard to the touch. About 40cm long and patterned like a python.

Did it work well as live bait?
I contend that where you fish is the
most important factor in catching fish.

I dabbed it in a landing net from curiousity about what it was, I wasn't collecting bait at the time. I don't think fish would eat it - too hard and lacking flesh.

Matt,

It's a Bearded Leatherjacket (Anacanthus barbatus).
