Boat ramp etiquette
Who launches their boat like a crack Navy Seal team, in and out in under 1 minute?

It takes that long just too get out of the car
5mins is about right. as you don't want a SNAFU like forgetting the bungs
I just hate it when people park on the ramp then start getting ready... rude buggers
oh and the ones who get sh..ty when it takes an extra 1-2 mins to get the kids in and out.

Yeah the 'Philup'opulous brothers argue at the top of the ramp for 5 minutes, then back the boat down back and forth from one side of the ramp to the other and argue for another 5 minutes while waving their hands about like they having a game of dyslectic charades. Then they start to load all the stuff still in the back of the car, esky, bbq, kitchen sink and more cr.p. Then they finally all get in and drive the boat off the trailer they realise they have left the trailer lights hanging off the transom and have to take it out again. Then their smokey 2 stroke circa 1965 motor roars into life with a cloud of smoke then dies in the arse. 5 minutes of more arguing then they go to pull it out again but then Skivvos the driver left the keys locked in the car!

Navy Seals
I would love to think I can get my boat in and out as fast as a Navy Seal. I pretty much got it down pat. I cant stand people who fart arse around trying to get their boat on or off the trailer. Some people spend ten times longer trying to drive their boat onto their trailer instead of winching it . It would be ok if you could line it up ok.
Ok I will stop whinging now.

Yup I get frustrated with tossa's howeva some people just have no idea of etiquette so I politely point it out and if they are newbies I offer a helping hand. I drive mine on, depending on who is with me as safety first eh.
Have also had 1 or 2 loud discussions over the years with rude arrogant f$#$$s. One had a car parked on the ramp area at shady so you couldnt turn around. (he was fishing off the barrage) I saw that people were reversing down from carpark!! so I drove up in my piece o poo rangie and told him to move it or lose it you rude pr..k. He said I would like to see that eh.......... I said I have a V8, a bullbar, no insurance and no job so no problems lets do it. Bit of a crowd now and I am thinking Fark what if he really calls your bluff.......... started truck up and suddenly he yells its cool mate and jumps in and moves his car to a better spot. Apparently he said to my brother" touch my car and I will kill im" Brother said you will have to as he is a psycho, just look at the 4wd. Thank god for that eh as I wasnt really angry enough to push his car out the way.

Fishing is not a matter of life and death, it is far more serious than that.

now I can justify letting my 4x4 desintergrate into a madmax style machine if it gets me 'pycho' status.
Now i have got to know you all a bit better, I'd like to come out of the closet(worried right??) and confess that I drove my boat onto the trailer once and said "ok drive it up to my fishing pal" because I was being a NavySeal show off I didn't put the winch rope on. Halfway up the ramp the boat slid off the trailer and parked it's bum on the concrete!!!!
lucky I had my Frill neck hat on!!! and the crowd didnt see who i was.

Nearly come to blows with a "grey army" geezer who hard parked his 4bie smack bang in the middle at the bottom of the Daly River ramp.
Happily sitting up in his deck chair soaking his cherabin. It was pretty late in the day and after an esky full of neck oils
I just was not in the mood for some old arrogant pr*ck to be telling me where and when I could get the boat out of the water.
After the threat of bull bars opening up the side of cars, fists being shoved down throats and deck chairs pushed up.......(where the sun don't shine)
the old f*rt decided he best skidaddle!
Whole trip home I copped it off the boys for "picking" on old blokes, truth be known he was only about 10 years older than me!

I think I can beat you all at launching the boat at the boat ramp. My boat is always in the water, the esky is always full of coldies, the tank always full of juice, the gear already rigged, oh and I have someone to clean up after my hard days fishing! My boat is called a "Charter"

yeah well i reversed the boat down the ramp at the adelaide river disconnected the winch and safetychain. handed the rope to the missus and did the old reverse and brake trick. worked well, except the rope i gave the missus was the wrong one and wasent tied off to anything.
had to swim about 25m to get the boat would of qualified for the olympics i recon

Me and the girl live round the corner from the nightcliff ramp and always find it amusing to take a couple of chairs and some drinks and a helping hand if required and whatch the weekend warriers try to organise their boats onto the trailer in the arvo with a very quick approaching tide,
To date I have snatched 3 cars out of the mud, helped get 2 boats off the concrete after the winch chain wasn't done, and swum for 1 old fellas boat.
I tell the girl that I don't revel in there misfortune, just ticking up karma points for when it happens to me, ( not if - when).
Still jelous of these guys for having the time to get out, no matter how badly there day ended.

We were cruising in to a ramp one arvo and another boat, who's occupants obviously needed to be onshore more urgently than us, whipped up around us. Shaking our collective heads in disgust at the 'bugger-you' attitude of these blokes, we all burst out laughing when Spiros very athletically lept over the side to fetch the car and disappeared under his now floating hat. She was a fairly steep drop off at that ramp and you could see in his eyes he'd expected knacker-deep water when he sprung over the side. To his credit though, he popped back up and made good time sloshing up the ramp, hat in hand.....and obviously not looking back at the hysterical but patient crew behind.
Karma once again my friend.

some good stories there
i hope im not to slow getting my boat on the trailer when some of you are about
because i know sometimes when the wind is blowing and im on my own which is almost always i can take me a couple of minutes to get the boat lined up and winched on
. but hey i even get pised off at mysel if i take longer than five minutes. i hat taking to long because you can just see the person patiently waiting for you to finish but on the inside they are hurry up and get that boat in mate i am busting to get on the water i need my fix.

Seen some funny things at the first womans barra comp... boats don't come off the trailer if the tiedown is still on.... no mater how hard you brake in reverse or if the OB is full noise in reverse
