Hardies
Hi everyone I am thinking of heading out to hardies next thursday arvo and hitting it at night. I have never been there and was wondering if there any ideas where to go there and whether it would be worth it.

Should be good this time of year, Nice spot, I never caught much out there but the barra do seem to be nice platinum silver I think this is because of the sandy bottom that hardies has. Night time is a good time to fish it I know that the barrage bandit used to do well standing on the back of the Cruiser and casting poppers and fizzers around. Maybe someone else has some more info for you.

I'm no guru on the place but have fished it a bit so I'll give some basic (maybee not so basic) directions as to what I do.
From the ramp go left and head along the open stretch and through the narrower treed section watch a couple of shallow spots just before the trees end, head further and around a right hand bend staying to the right as it is shallow out to the left, go a bit further ( all pretty shallow) until the trees close in again ,from there on there is plenty of depth, once you get thrugh the trees it opens out to the main billabong.
you can troll the edges of the lillies all along here, and if you keep going you will see a point on the right hand side with a bit of a sand bar on it and very deep water out from it. I do most of my trolling from this point along the right hand bank for 2-300meters in about 3.5m of water and have picked up a few nice fish along there. Directly accross on the other bank is a good run also.
Hav'nt really tried the shallower areas and theres plenty to cast at if you want to as well.
Never got big numbers of fish out there but usually good size, my daughter won the coroboree park challenge with an 84 cm from there.
Done all my fishing during the day as night fishing doesn't turn me on much.
Hope this helps
Cheers Flicker

Nicko.... I was told some fishos were cleaning there fish at the ramp and throwing the left overs into the water there too
and now there is a big old croc sitting at the ramp looking for a feed so look out for him when you put the boat in

Thanks guys I will have a look for that log as last time I had salmonella so I was putting my share of logs in the water up the south sorry to the guys downstream. Nothin pi__es me more than mongrels who have no reguard for anyone else by cleaning their fish on a ramp. Maybe we could feed them to that croc and see what it feels like.

croc
I think that big croc has been at the Hardies launch site for years.
I saw some Queenslanders camping on the bank next to the launch site there about four years ago and as I had seen the croc the week before I warned them - they said thank you very much and didn't move.
I'm amazed there haven't been more croc attacks.
