Good day guy's
Hopefully I'm off to fish the Daly this weekend.............never fished there before just wondering if anybody has some tips and any problem areas to watch out for. Most likely to be launching from Banyan farm, is it true that this river is a prop killer?
Your thoughts appreciated

This time of the year you would be lucky to run int anything other than floating timber. Unless you go down past clear creek then you got plenty of sandbars. Just make you way down the river and try every good looking spot. Not just creeks, but anywhere there is fish boofing and bait, eg back eddies, tight bends.
Good Luck and let us know how you go.
Cheers
Jason

A little debri on the river backlash, seen it worse in the dry...
still plenty of water this side of elizabeth ck and day fishing was hard.
Clear ck only had slight color change and was low, the best ones were a few km's back.
We did it hard with only 4 fish for the day but after talking to the rest of the boats we didnt feel so bad as no-one got much
My best bet would be on the bug-filled night fishing, fish gotta eat sometime

I don’t think you’d need to worry about anything nasty with the water up at the moment. Get onto Punter, he’s the man on the spot for the Daly.
Like the others say………..maybe a bit of debris to look out for.
For your info; this is a list of the nasties that I’ve found come into play when it drops to Dry Season level:

The boy's just got from the Daly, the place is really starting to fire 28 fish boated all between 65cm to 90cm. Plastics where the weapons of choice, river dropped .5 of a metre while they were there starting to look pretty good . The boof's at night time were like bombs going off

Killing a prop on the Daly is something of a rite of passage to barra fishing in the top end. You must do it. And you will, if you don't pay very close attention to Fishfinder maps and keep an eye out for stumps. Browns creek at this time of year will see you stranded on a sandbar if you don't watch out. But having said that, do it! You have to fish the Daly. I have a smashed prop hanging over my bar and it is always a good talking point. I love the Daly.
