Barra Nationals 2019 results

Post by bigwoody »

Word on the street is that the Nationals have crashed and burned fish wise. The lack of media reports probably confirm this. Some are saying its time for a change to a saltwater comp.

Hard to change an institution like that. Might have to start a new comp.

That said, this past wet season was a rarity and there is no indication that it will be a new normal under climate change, rainfall in the north may increase overall.

bigwoody just got back from the classic, yeah the fishing was poop, it was a bad wet, bad luck. the beers where cold and the company was great- most gave up on day 3 and got on the p..s and had a good all round time. at the same token, everyone had a chance, if you trolled up a metery you would have placed 1st 2nd or 3rd as bad as the fishing was every single boat had a chance if they had a line in the water. there is 0 chance either of those comps go to saltwater- the classic has been run for 35+ years on the daly, aint nothing gonna change that, the river and the history add to the comp- you dont get that anywhere else. as always next year there will be plenty of EOIs to fish it with many handfuls of people missing out... hopefully the fishing is better if not such is life. giddy up

Yep no surprise with the outcome, lets hope things go back to normal.

Just for those who are curious...

213 fishos
215 fish = 1.009 ea,
45 hours of fishing effort per fish.
