Nailed this unlucky little bugger on a shallow harbour rock bar earlier in the week.
Some manner of Frogfish or Scorpion Fish ??

Re: Fish ID
Scorpaenopsis diabolus - false stonefish
Not completely "false", as they can sting.

Re: Fish ID
False stonefish (scorpionfish) have a mouth that slopes forward and opens just like a normal fish.

Real stonefish have a mouth that faces upwards or even slightly backwards beyond vertical.

This one definitely a scorpion or false stonefish by mouth position.
Either way I wouldn't be mucking around with it.
Bit like holding up a taipan and an eastern brown for comparison and taking fewer precautions with the one that you think is an eastern brown.
Both can cause you maximum grief.
My view is the same as Cuddles. Anything that looks like that is a bl..dy stonefish to me.
