Rocks outside the lock at Bayview

Post by baiter »

Has anyone been fishing at bayview near the lock or nearby? If so what did you catch and were you using live bait or lures?

Seen other fishos in boats flicking lures and throwing the cast net, assuming chasing barra and live bait for barra but other species will make it up that way i.e. goldies and salmon
One of my old bosses used to be a regular at Yacht club, the yachties said barra would do a lot of boofing at night time at sadgroves

Midgies are awesome though

All the big girls were caught up there years ago especially at night.
Considering it's the first creek for the incoming from the harbour there's a pretty good chance the big girls will still travel up there.

Also it’s very slippery I took landing net which saved a lot hassle in landing the fish.

I'm only new to fishing in Darwin and have tried the rockwall at Bayview many times with no Barra luck. Besides losing all my lures I've managed to catch two flathead. I didn't know flathead were up here to be honest.

There are some very spiny looking "flathead" which people tend to call rock flathead. As well as the more normal looking bartail flathead.

All tasty, and all spiky.
